Assistant Planner Gropen presented the staff report explaining the project scope, location, and purpose. She also provided details about the available options for materials, colors, and patterns and summarized the feedback from stakeholders.
Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director Bill Robeson and Interim City Engineer Steve Kahn answered questions from the Committee as the project managers. Director Robeson answered questions about the age of the existing tiles to be replaced, future maintenance considerations, and timing of the project.
Chair Martin opened public comment. Planning Manager Perez read the email from the supplemental memo into the record. No other public comment was received.
The Committee was supportive of the use of stamped concrete for heavily trafficked areas such as the crosswalks and sidewalk bands. The Committee prefers the use of pavers for the tree wells to improve drainage and minimize maintenance in the event that street trees need to be replaced in the future. The Committee stated a preference for the Brick Red 160 color to be consistent with the character of the Village, the basket weave pattern, and stressed the importance of matching the colors of the bands, crosswalks, and tree wells.
