This meeting was conducted in a hybrid in-person/virtual format. 


Chair Maraviglia called the Planning Commission meeting to order at 6:00pm.

All present. 

Commissioner Roof led the flag salute.

None.

    Approve the Minutes of the March 19, 2024 and April 2, 2024 regular meetings. 

    Passed

Community Development Director Pedrotti presented the staff report and responded to Commissioner questions regarding the applicability of CEQA for individual project, legal review of the draft ordinance, and selection criteria. 

Chair Maraviglia opened the public hearing. 

Alexandria asked a question about the limitations on marketing within public art pieces. 

Hearing no further public comments, Chair Maraviglia closed the public hearing.

    1) Adopt a Resolution recommending the City Council adopt amendments to Title 16 of the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code regarding public art, including but not limited to, murals; and

    2) Determine that the ordinance amendments is not subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to State CEQA Guidelines sections 15060(c)(2) and 15061(b)(3).

Vice Chair Berlin nominated Chair Maraviglia to serve as the Planning Commission's chair for the next term. 

The Planning Commission voted unanimously to appoint Commissioner Maraviglia to serve as the Planning Commission's chair for the next term. 

Chair Maraviglia nominated Vice Chair Berlin to serve as the Planning Commission's Chair for the next term. 

Vice Chair Berlin declined the appointment and a vote was not conducted. 

Vice Chair Berlin nominated Commissioner Roof to serve as the Planning Commission's vice chair for the next term. 

The Planning Commission voted unanimously to appoint Commissioner Roof to serve as the Planning Commission's vice chair for the next term. 

  • 1) Elect a Chair and a Vice Chair to serve effective May 7, 2024, and continuing until March 18, 2025; and

    2) Find that the request is not a project as defined by the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to State CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5).

Community Development Director Pedrotti provided an update to the Commission regarding:  the City's newly adopted ADU Ordinance, upcoming ADU Workshops on April 24th and 27th and the General Plan pop up event at Farmer's Market on April 20th.
